My god I love Kayta for burning Iron and Wine's Our Endless Numbered Days CD for me. Between Cinder and Smoke and Teeth in the Grass, I am charmed beyond reason. Not to mention On Your Wings. It's folk, which isn't something I know much about musically, but something I'm getting increasingly interested in.

From Cinder and Smoke

Give me your hand.
Take what you will tonight.
I'll give it as fast
and high as the flames will rise

...

Cinder and smoke,
You ask me to pray for rain.
With ash in your mouth
you'll ask it to burn again.

German quiz I'm not ready for at six. Feel my joy.

I hookah-ed last night and had a really good, relaxing time. I guess last time I was just too irritated to enjoy it. Wasn't having the greatest day.

Got ROYALLY drunk w/ Ben Tuesday night. Unusually, it didn't depress me. I was giggling at everything. Not that my reflection in the bathroom mirror isn't always funny, but after a few White Russians, it turns out it's hilarious. My stereotypical tendency to be way too honest when rather tips, discovered in senior year, turns out to still be in effect. I said things I didn't even think I thought. Eugh. Ben is the world's best drinking buddy-- sexy in a non-slimy way, sweet, and up for anything.

Colin says I can stay for 30-45 min. of Porum (sp?) (which is doubling as boy's night), which is long enough to get through the kaddish (again, sp?), try the Manischevitz (yet more sp?) and a few other things, which is really all I want to do anyway.

Saw a charming property today. I've written all the emails I need to and am waiting for replies. I should be able to fax to my mom this evening or tomorrow morning, get it back noon-esque tomorrow, turn it in then-ish. On the ball, Erin. Staying the course. A thousand points of light.

did you know, love, that they're (as in he's) coming to columbia the 24th of april? im going w/ my suitemate ally, so if you wanted to come, it's hardly as though you'd be alone. also, if you want some more of their heady brew, i can burn you a mix with extra songs... that, or you can wait with bated breath wilst i send, bytebybyte, the other songs i have over aim. always a good time, sending music via aim. you never know when it'll just tell you to fuck off and quit going... oh, the metaphors i can think of but will spare you the agony of sharing :)

Can I gank the stuff from you this weekend? We need one of those push-in-able data transfer thingies. And yes, I think I do need to see that concert. Sveet.

Heh, am amused beyond reason that you ended up going to more Purim service than I did. I'm going to Friday night tomorrow night, but just didn't make it to tonight's reading. How is that you're going to Iowa and being a better Jew than I am on the east coast?

(also, btw, Iron & Wine are amazing. Folk music in general is amazing, esp. if there's a fiddle involved. I go all putty-like for fiddles.)

OMG Sarah, Manischewitz is narsty beyond all reason. If Concord Grape is the BEST flavor, I don't want to contemplate Blackberry and Cherry. I dunno how the 'better' thing would be possible, but for some reason Iowa City is all about the Lubavitchers. Dunno why, really.

Fiddles are indeed acoustically delicious.
