Jan. 5th, 2012 02:52 amThe potentially interesting ones:
--made dinner for tomorrow night (parsnips, carrot, sweet potato and potato in the ham and cheery coke brine I’d frozen from Christmas Eve, with a bit of bacon, marinated and simmered and then cooked down into a glaze in the manner of Joy of Cooking’s Maple Glazed Parsnips (which I made Christmas Day))
--watched a bit of Bed-knobs and Broomsticks while doing chores, but the iplayer’s now cut me off
--watched the very sweet Role Models with Katy while doing visa
--read a lot of news, including this interesting article on Moffat, Sherlock and Sexism in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jan/03/sherlock-sexist-steven-moffat (Katy’s rec)
--and this on fandom and social justice issues http://www.socialjusticeleague.net/2011/09/how-to-be-a-fan-of-problematic-things/ (Katy’s rec again)
--watched all of the web short series Husbands while doing chores
I want to get on the damson ice cream or the macaroons while the ingredients are still fresh, but both are noisy, and Katy's sleeping, and I already accidentally woke her trying to put dishes away. x_x
--booked doctor’s appointment with Dr Stephen Steinberg (which will teach me to mock how there are no jews in England) tomorrow at 5:50
--tried to call Boots re: passport photos, had to give number so they’d call me back
--played with cat so he doesn’t go crazy and pee on things and keep us up all night (his personal Christmas Special)
--cat litter
--tidied bedroom
--laundry leik woah
--called Boots and Morrisons about passport Photos, finally had to go to stupidly expensive Snappy Snaps after Morrison’s booth didn’t work (despite their assurances over the phone that it would--did they turn it off in the half hour it took me to walk down there? *Really?*
--helped washing machine installation guy
--dishes
--grocery shopping
--made dinner for tomorrow night (parsnips, carrot, sweet potato and potato in the ham and cheery coke brine I’d frozen from Christmas Eve, with a bit of bacon, marinated and simmered and then cooked down into a glaze in the manner of Joy of Cooking’s Maple Glazed Parsnips (which I made Christmas Day))

--watched the very sweet Role Models with Katy while doing visa
--cleaned out downstairs bathroom a bit
--scheduled doctor visit for tomorrow for persistent headaches, nosebleeds, insomnia and depression
--filled out visa ap (took FOREVER, so much fucking work and looking up things/finding documents/general confusion)
--re: revenue & customs letter, called them on 4/1/2012, apparently the NRL12 doesn’t mean anything for me, I should continue to pay rent and council tax as normal, and that’s all fine
--talked to dad about potential visa application issues and contingency plans
--read a lot of news, including this interesting article on Moffat, Sherlock and Sexism in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jan/03/sherlock-sexist-steven-moffat (Katy’s rec)
