Computer has progressed from 'some keys not working' to 'entire keyboard nonfunctioning' to 'will not even turn on.' Am having a big panic attack in the mac store in Tel Aviv which I've dragged myself to (thus the internet)--thank GOD for Ramat Aviv uni students, who are helpful and mac dependent and knew where the store was, b/c really, it's here b/c of them.

Was immediately told by v. understanding macstore girl to calm down because it was all going to be alright. Which was comforting, actually.

I...don't know if I want to do this without ANY ability to write/use the internet. I don't know that I /can/. I may tough it out until my intended trip to see K. in two weeks, but really, I was sort of Not Loving It as it was. As in 'incredibly depressed and rather loathing it.' I mean, the North is ALREADY better, b/c there are people and stores and not endless desert and I feel 60% less insane, but still. I guess if I went home-home I could work out my Brit. work visa after working a few months and attaining capital for initial apartment lease.

I just hate to cop out when I /said/ a year, but when you don't think it's possible to be any less happy, maybe it's okay to call it in? It's not like I don't have material for a submission-ready article, though I'll feel v. 'study abroad trip writing' dirty about an attempt made after a scant three months, but god, either I get a new mac or I fix this one or I give in and cry. It doesn't seem fair that K. can dump half a gallon of tea on her Mac and I gently clean mine while it's turned off and then lovingly towel off any excess water and it... dies for ever. What? It's only a little over two years old and has never had any major issues. /God/ I hope it's fixable. I'd stay a night in Tel Aviv while they worked on it, or they could ship it, or...I could cry. Pretty much.

EDIT: Well, so it could be anything from a bit of dust and grit clogging up things (100$ American to fix, roughly, to maybe 200$) to a fried logic board (...incredibly expensive). Probably data recovery will go alright, if so. And 7-10 days to fix. They'll get back to me with a quote. It's going to the lab ...I hate everything.
