Master of the House: Bloggin' to Les Mis
Feb. 17th, 2008 03:38 amDanny, watching little boy singing a solo in "Paris 10 Years Later": "I wonder what THAT kid went on to do?"
Erin: "Other men."
"Javert? Javert get a JOB."
Erin: "Do you have a crush on Valjean, Javert? 'Cause otherwise this is terribly awkward."
Drunk Danny: "Erin! ERIN! Write Jean Valjean/Javert slash! I hope that's what you're doing! I hope you're on page two right now!"
Erin: 246ohFUN
Patch: You are the 24601 for me!
EDIT: Of COURSE
You're Valjean/Javert!
---
Your profile: Because pretty boys are just too easy. You can get pretty dark, and you tend to scare some of us, but you're definitely not afraid to stretch the boundaries and challenge assumptions. Example story: As Lucifer Fell Which Les Miz Slash Pairing Are You?
Also of course: BritSlash has tonnes of fic for this. I should have been, like, born knowing that.
Patch, after ABC Students Song: "Oh come ON, get to the point where you're all fucking dead!"
Erin: Every French novel is just a slow, agonized progression to that point.
Danny and Erin believe in John Barrowman for Enjolas. Or Bruce Campbell.
I have totally worked out some bitter references to Haussmannization for 'singing the song of angry men.' Wide streets>Barricades made from couches.
(Cosette attempts to sing)
Patch: Fuck it, nope. (fast-forwards)
Danny's falsetto "On My Own" is something I will never forget. Like the Alamo.
Danny, WASTED: Éponine is ME!
Danny, to musical: Shut UP! Éponine lives FOREVER!
Patch: I'm glad you didn't bitch-slap me for the sake of Les Mis. Or La Maize. Or as the Indians call it, Corn. ...or Lamaze.
LesRENTables:
Erin, on Javert killing himself: Maybe Valjean gave Javert BarricAIDS!
...
Erin, singing: At the Life Cafe we can sing La Vie Boheme and it might actually make Sense in this context!
Patch, singing: We need to regroup back to the LIFE cafe! Where Angel played Drums and we were Totally Gay!
Patch as Marius: ...and Eponine was there. And she looked GOOD. And she said, turn around, girlfriend, and listen to that boy's song (re: Valjean's ode to coma!Marius)!
I read this book in like 8th grade. Junior High I went through this huge French lit phase, it was all Hugo and Dumas. I can remember only the sketchiest outlines of this thing. I remember liking Éponine and not Cosette, though. Éponine is kind of analogous to Sonya in Crime and Punishment, now I think of it.
I'm taking a War and Peace break. It made me cry. Thanks death of Lisa and return of Andrei. Thanks for tears.
Danny is patiently, drunkenly explaining every time he's been to the theater, Sam made me coffee after I creeped him out by having the prologue to Lolita memorized (Btw, am I the only one who hated Lolita? I think I recall it against my will.), and Patch is singing the action subtitles in a relentless vibrato.
Mm. This peach and lemon hookah bowl ftw.
