Treacherous Chai
Dec. 30th, 2004 11:38 pmLakota the Pretentious Coffee Shop totally FOOD POISONED me today (according to Grandma, Nurse of Worlds)! Fucking little chai death traps! Was having such a good day, too!
Am fine, just lolled in bed for the afternoon with the microwavable heating pad bear and Sophie's World and was okay by 7:30.
That morning, I saw Series of Unfortunate Events and really enjoyed it, esp. the actress playing Violet, who looks much like a tiny brunette Uma Thurman. I liked the costuming and the atmosphere, disliked the chronology changes, which seemed frequently needless, the added League of Extraordinary Gentlemen-esque subplot, which was just kind of silly, and was truly ambivalent about Jim Carrey.
The previews for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory look amazing, I swear Depp is imitating Wilder's facial tics.
I had a great dinner with Rachel, Shelley and Kelley at a decent Thai place and rented Saved, which I really enjoyed. Schmaltzy, but v. good. It was bugging me who the hell the mom was in the movie, as I totally recognized her, until I realized and screamed 'Oh my god, HARPER! HARPER FROM ANGELS!' God, that actress is good. She has the most mobile face.
I get to help Meg with the cooking for New Years, which I think sounds really fun, because I am colossally nerdy like that. Cheesecake, baked Alaska, and something chocolaty. I love doing desserts! And I missed cooking! And talking to Meg makes me really really wish I could just fuck college and go to CIA except is that what I really want to do and- augh, I have no idea. Better to not think about anything post-grad, as it never gets me any closer to a decision.
But at any rate, cooking from 9-10 ish, dressing up/pre-party at 5, fancy dress party later. Funner stuff has never been.
