The Punishment bit

x_losI've read in my wonderful Pevear and Volokhonsky translation of Crime and Punishment from 247 to 318 so far today, and don't intend to stop until I reach 348. I'm like a Russian Lit Machine. I can totally do it!
...Nope, no I can't. I'm getting so tired of this stupid country. Russia in AP Gov, Russian phsyciatrists in AP Psych, Russian novels in AP Lit. And it's such a senseless, random ass country. I'm not saying that in an 'I hate Russians' sense, but in a general "Russia is confusing" sense. I'm tired and blathering, but I've got this whole theory that the world would be cooler if Russian and Canada fused into the RussianPanCanadian Federation (RPCF). Canada's the most passive, useless nation in the world, and Russia the most neurotic and screwed up. If they did the fusion dance, they could be like a giant Alley McBeal country. The Russian political scene would stabilize, and the Canadians wouldn't even notice, cause they'd still be cold (see, if they like, shipped Canadians to Russia and likewise redistributed some Russians, to even things out). Plus, Canada has Civil Unions, so those fake Russian lesbians in Tatu could TOTALLY get married.
It's a great plan.
