The Crane Wife, I think. Swans are overused, and there's something charmingly ethereal about cranes. Or maybe that's just because I think about birds too much.

If only! The truth is far less interesting: I think about birds a lot because I have pet parrots. But I would totally hug a swan if it wouldn't kill me.

The Crane Wife was a Decemberists' album from a few years ago, so I immediately thought of that. I don't have any associations with 'The Swan Wife', so I would probably pick that one.

Cranes are cooler, swans have kitschy associations. Though swan sounds nicer than crane.

Oh, I think 'crane' has a prettier sound? That long a is 'swan' is a bit gross... and apropos icon, well-remembered.
