Semi-interesting ones:

--made two batches of gingerbread cookies before the dough went off
--read an interesting article on smell in design and urban areas generally: http://www.ediblegeography.com/smell-designing-sheffield/
--watched the movie “Son of Rambow” while doing chores. VERY SWEET AND WELL-CRAFTED. Catch it on iplayer.
--read up on Milk Bar Bakery (http://momofukustore.com/cookies.html) and how to duplicate some of their weird but interesting looking cookies (http://www.marthastewart.com/334023/blueberry-and-cream-cookies). They are fucking hipsterdiculous and $44 for a pie is murder, but I *still* kind of want to try the cookies? Not the compost cookie. That shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
--made a curry out of stuff we needed to use in the fridge, with rice--no recipe, have finally learned how to DIY bullshit a basic curry based off feeling more comfortable with Indian cuisine. Yay.

Pleased with myself for having figured out "sin parentesco" is Spanish for "no relation" from context. #smallvictories

Also this song's moreish.

If you would prefer for Iowa City to have independent local businesses, rather than for huge, characterless development projects to muscle out the established and much-loved places that give the city its identity, you should probably sign http://www.change.org/petitions/stop-overdevelopment-on-the-north-side and http://www.change.org/petitions/save-the-red-avocado to support the North Side and the area around New Pi co-op. I don't **zomgadore** every shop in question, but there's no denying that IC is better with this sort of stuff, and the business side of this seems pretty fucking shady. (I'm not sure that sudden lease alteration with this little notice is legal?)

http://www.pippinbarr.com/games/letsplayancientgreekpunishment/LetsPlayAncientGreekPunishment.html : a super fun game, guys. Fill that bath! Oh. Oh wait...

And some other shit I did:

--found way to use the cream, some egg whites and some lemon juice before anything goes off!
--reorganized tupperware, pots, pans
--dishes (soooo maaaaany dishesssss)
--taste-tested new Mancunian roommate’s mom’s christmas cake against my own: nice--they used straight-up royal icing, which I still think is a mistake (though easier to sculpt into this snow effect thing), thicker marzipan and icing layers, a BIGGER cake, molasses?, more alcohol? Their cake is more moist, but I don’t like the crumb-texture as much (it slimes and slicks your fingers and tongue when pressed, rather than crumpling softly, lightly), and it lacks the spice-oomph and crystallized ginger kick of my recipe. I’ll remember the molasses next time and think about making a bigger cake with thicker marzipan and icing, but I’ll stick with heavy spicing, ginger, and the cheap and dirtily pre-made but tasty, easy to roll and nice icing Katy bought. May add more booze in the *initial* cooking, for flavor.
--read up on rezoning in IC, signed petitions and signal-boosted for Anna Sunshine (actual/amazing middle name)

How is it 5am?!
