I already told Kel this, but SPREADING THE JOY!!

So I got locked out of my house today by a freak gust of wind and trapped in the rain and cold with no sweater or shoes, and had to beg some random furniture reupholsterers to let me use their internet to call Katy so she could come home from work to let me in, but since today was the largest public worker strike in like, generations, public transport was fucked, and I had to wait hours with nothing to do in this stupid dusty shop while all two employees were harried, weird, and racist about some guy who came in wanting a stool re-covered. Basically my day was magical.

It was just so /dumb/--I prop that door open every day while I dump the trash, and it's a HEAVY door, never goes anywhere. But not todaaaaay. Eugh. Not doing THAT again.

The saddest part is my cat tried to keep me company on the other side of the door, sitting there for like 20 minuets until I was like 'I don't think it's helping, Cat, you can go away now' and he slowly did so, creeping up the stairs a little bit at a time, with many backward looks. Then another twenty minutes later I got bored again and called him back and he came to check on me again. Thanks for solidarity, at least? :/

Philippa came back and was able to let me in, but by that time Katy was almost home, so we got curry and I got into dry socks. Then Katy and I went to The Write Stuff, which was nice. I think I'm getting a bit better at the format of the game, which is as important as happening to know the books in question. Though I'm not really sure how many people can be regularly listening to a show so dependent on a wide knowledge of books that I personally find somewhat out of my reach at this age as a lit PhD candidate? It's one of those impressively brainy BBC things that I admire the chutzpah of a great deal. Their history programs, which I've been watching recently while doing chores, can be v. impressive at times in their breadth/depth of knowledge and in the focus/analytical content, in a way I didn't really know the mainstream nonfiction television format was capable of.
