I was making the Sad Folk Playlist, only to encounter crisis when I had to find a bright line for 'folkiness.' Wikipedia did not help me. I had to rely on my own best judgement. It was scary. In the process, read that Napoleon, the DiFranco song, might be about Suzanne Vega. Discovered all my Vega was on my old laptop and old desktop, and I have no room on the new one to download any. How do you go a few months before you realize you have misplaced an artist? I suck!

the Sad Folk Playlist (still revising):

Oh, also, going for a certain tone, judging the 'sad' (not really the right word) by that indicator, so not all subjects are necessarily sad, so don't get all up in my face- "Dude, she's shelter from the storm, he wubs her, that's not sad!," 'cause I know.

Ready For The Storm -- Dougie MacLean Live - From Two Ends Of This Earth
Cloud Blood-- Ani Difranco To The Teeth
We Learned The Sea-- Dar Williams Out There Live
Burn That Broken Bed-- Iron And Wine & Calexico In The Reins [EP]
Stained-- Kristin Hersh Strange Angels Rock
Shelter From The Storm-- Bob Dylan Blood On The Tracks
Cedar Tree-- Indigo Girls Rites Of Passage
Diamonds And Rust-- Joan Baez Greatest Hits
You will be my ain true love-- Alison Krauss cold mountain
Dilaudid-- The Mountain Goats The Sunset Tree
Woodstock-- Joni Mitchell Ladies Of The Canyon
Master Song-- Leonard Cohen The Songs Of Leonard Cohen
Scotch Grove-- The Mountain Goats The Coroners Gambit
Bonny Portmore-- Loreena McKennitt The Visit

Any suggestions?

How do you mean infiltrating? Posting too much? And oh, how sad I am. Bright Eyes and I have a date, excuse me. I have to sing "I want a lover I don't *hic* have to... AUGH! SOB!" in my quavery voice...

Hee. I am terribly amused by Bright Eyes. But! Dude! I went to see Alkaline Trio last weekend and there were these twelve year olds all tarted up. I even got to see one in a prom dress who, swear to god, had a collar on that said "mistress". Honestly, what the hell? Does she not know what she's doing?

That or she is a 12 old BDSM queen? Ew, so uncomfortable with that possibility. And where does a 12 yr old attain herself a prom dress to be all tarty IN?

Yeah, but c'mon. The mistress should not be the one wearing the collar. I've watched enough freaky movies to know that. For reals.

Goodwill. Or, for the locals, Rag-O-Rama. Are you local? I can never remember, all I can think is Iowa. I mean, there are places.

Damn straight to your freaky movie knowledge, and I'm Iowa City Iowa? Is that local? I mean, we have a Rag Stock, but I know of no o-Rama.

Oh, well, then, never mind. It's a vintage clothing store. Well, used. Thrift. But it's one of those terribly trendy ones so it costs more to shop there than to buy new. Anyway, yeah.
