Some women's periods pass in near invisibility, leaving their hosts calm, pleasant people. I dread mine because the hormones rape me, leaving a raving lunatic who cries and leaves aim messages like "I hate you I hate you I hate you! Validate meeeeee! I wish I could make cabbage right! SOB" I accosted Colin in the library and shouted "I hate you for being a MAN!" "'Night, Erin." He responded, rolling over. I have a job interview in 12 hours, how can I go with teh CRAZY still controlling my system?!

Is it irresponsible and anti-feminist to have this semi 'I can't control my actions' respose to this time, and does it damage my credibility as an intelligent, autonomous person to be so thoroughly controlled by my body? Do I play up the responses to excuse my own poor behavior choices, or is the confusion and emotional turmoil I experience in these times authentic? Augh! Don't listen to anything I say for like, 24 hours, I'm probably just going to burble incoherently at you, cry over seeing a squirrel, arrange to back pack through Europe, and demand you come over and either watch Two Weeks Notice or DBZ. (It's the last bit that I find so unsettlling).

Hee. I wish I was one of the latter, that way I could let the crazy that lives within my soul run free for a week or so.

I think all women respond differently to their hormones. your body can do weird things to you if you let it. it's not anti-feminist to acknowledge that your body has certain feelings associated with hormone fluctuations surrounding your period. chemicals, lots of chemicals. it doesn't become anti-feminist until someone uses it as a justification for this idea of female hysteria.

p.s. on another note that has something to do with this: do female product commercials ever just really piss you off?

I really really hate the ones that are about how you can avoid the potential embarassment of your period by using their product. it's like, "I really don't think I should have to be embarassed for something that happens to half the population once a month every month for a large portion of our lives."
