x_losHow long is it appropriate to wait before emailing the colleges I sent my letter out to to ask if they've received my corespondence? I figured I'd give them a business week- until Friday- before sending a note. Is this too soon, or should I be yet more proactive? Every day I check my inbox, dreading yet anxiously awaiting the inevitable 'go away, loser,' letters.

Date: 2004-04-14 05:19 pm (UTC)Figure US Mail takes 2-3 days (or 4-6 if you are in hick country) and it takes two days to actually open the letter and read the first few sentences.
That adds up to a week.. besides, don't panic. Did you try contacting those colleges on the phone? People tend to be receptive to the phone, especially if you explain your situation and say, what can I do to have a chance at your college?
Where are you applying anyway?
