Yeah and for me the reason it’s a bad joke is, gig fandom is an Etsy ghetto, the writing commissions cannot support you at minimum wage or even at piecework rates. So what’s all this for??
The platform affordances couldn’t prevent wank in that era, but neither did the platforms thrive on and outright encourage it and have wankiness as a central tenant of their culture, I guess.
