I hate pet peeves and when people have them to excess. Honestly, get the fuck over yourself, lighten up. It's not people's responsibility to conduct themselves in ways that please your undisclosed expectations, or even to comply with your well-publicized nitpicking. Indulging in hatred of people's quirks is closed minded and keeps you from appreciating a person's qualities. Similarly pet peeves keep you from enjoying otherwise pleasant sittuations. Someone picking their teeth at a table across the way? That drives you crazy? Get the fuck over it, because you're only irritating yourself. And to what end?

That said, I wallow in one of mine. Bitch About Person X (who is, of course, not specifically named) lj posts need to die so good. Everyone reading assumes it's about them. Said readers come a running, "Oh, it's not me is it? I love you so much sweetie, I'm so sorry I did blank on Y, kisses!" The Bitch About Person X post craves this kind of attention.

If you just needed to vent, that's what the private post is for. And you can do that in detail! You can name those names! You can express that rage or lingering irritation and no one need ever deal with it!Or go have a conversation about it with a non-involved friend, share your feelings, and then forget about it! W00t!

State your case to the person in person, not mediated by lj, and get smacked down for its ridiculousness, get over it because you've aired it, make your points and try to constructively change the situation, or keep it to yourself.

It's not like I'm blameless. I can think off the top of my head of at least one occasion this school year I've done something equally stoopid and deplorably drama-tastic. But I'm making an effort not to anymore, because really, bitch please.

God, hear freakin' hear. I don't think that's so much a pet peeve as it is a real problem becoming more and more common. Your annoyance is completely justified. I have some friends that go so far as to express all of their grievances toward each other over their journals... that's how they fight, that's how they talk. And they see each other every day! I don't know if they ever discuss their proplems directly to each other... and if they do, it's few and far between because it seems like every day I have to look at "I hate you because _____!" on my flist. It's completely appalling. The one thing I loathe about the internet is that it gives people who would rather avoid their problems an excuse by protecting themselves behind the cloak of the impersonal internet. People have to pull their heads out of their asses and fucking SUCK IT UP!!!

Eh. Sorry I was so ranty, it just bothers me a lot :P

*amusement* As you came and pointed out to me, greatest post ever because you're being the uber-hypocrite and bitching about this without naming names, but that's just cool sometimes. Mainly because I'm not involved directly in this loverly randomosity of LJ drama.

Eh, but really? more bitching about the phenomena, because sooo many people do this, than a specific instance. More 'Slavery, what's up with that?' than Bob, owner of slaves, sucks donkey balls. I don't think it is just cool sometimes though. I'd prefer to do everything it's necessary to do in person and never have an 'lj drama' again.

*high fives* WORD.

No need to apologize, I initiated the ranting, afterall. You make a really good point about avoiding the problem via internet. While it may help you to articulate by writing down your thoughts, that's no substitute for face to face discussion.

Maybe big time sinners should detox from lj for a while? Or is it just that as you mature, so do your communication skillz, and all we can do is wait for people to stop? Because I don't see this happening on older friend's lj's.
