Today rocked hard. We saw Bride and Prejudice, which I'd wanted to see forever. Kind of by accident- Kel was checking theaters and mentioned it and I jumped on it and screamed a mighty YES, and there we were at Tivoli, only this time I wasn't vomiting in that strange corner and ruining my experience of the Indiana Jones marathon... yeah, that time sucked.

But Bride and Prejudice- AWESOME. The musical numbers were really well executed. There were moments of hilarity. The cultural commentary was fun, and the Lizzie was a really good update on the character. She was feminist but not flakey-fake. 'Lahlita' made some cool points about men who come back to India for brides, luxury tourism in India, and there was this AWESOME montage about what she thinks of England, and it's this stereotyped white wedding with Morris Dancers and chubby blonde children. It was amazing. Oh, and the dancing surfers, gospel choir, and Baywatch lifeguard backup singers? Fantastic.

There were some moments where the direction was really awkward. Her scripts and concepts are awesome, and the musical numbers worked well, but maybe she should think about using a co director? Some parts just did not flow, and there were one or two kind of awkward, unintelligible montages.

Then we went Boutique-ing in University City. I found a cute little dress for $13, and a cute skirt for $40. Two belts as well, which I desperately needed. Then vintage shopping. Then hit St. Louis's best comic's store, according to the St. L version of zaggats. I got 'Grrl Scouts,' which I love, and impulse bought 'Trucker Fags in Denial', which was hilarious and indie and fun. Kel picked up Runaways, which is a ridiculous comic, and asked what 'meshuggener' meant b/c someone used it in the comic. I said I thought probably 'crazy person.' We walked out and discovered we were in front of Meshugge Cafe. This is an odd name for a cafe and an odd repetition of an obscure word.

Headed over to The Hill for dinner. In St. Louis The Hill is popularly known as 'where the mob is.' Great Italian food. Scary large Italian men smoking cigars in every restaurant who look like they should be addressed as Don. Experience The Hill.

Came back to the dorm, finished off the Baileys, and watched some truly great foul TV (Oh, Futurama. Oh, Dave the Barbarian), read comics, and wrote some Negative Four/One bondage slash involving chains, a steel wall, and in a fit of self-indulgence a phrase borrowed from Aqua Teen Hunger Force (You are strapped to a wall, man). ...I don't want to talk about it.

Then, was watching Boy Meets World, and Corey asked Tapanga how she got such 'Meshugge' ideas. What in hell? Third appearance of obscure word in the same day?

So coming back tomorrow, probably, unless I go home to Columbia for the night and try to get back for Monday German. I still want to see Merchant of Venice though, and I can only really do that here in St. L. We'll see.
