A guy on the gay marriage board just pointed out to me that Edwards and Kerry would have needed to get off the campaign trail and actually go into the senate to vote. I knew they'd need to walk in, but I hadn't realized they weren't in Washington right now. I guess that kind of mitigates the fact that they (the only two out of the whole senate, actually) didn't vote on the FMA, though I still feel their responsibility to provide moral leadership should have forced them to go in a vote.

I know it's a divisive issue. But the level of the pandering to undecided voters disgusts me. Want to grab the nation's attention? BE a fucking democrat! wWant to inspire people with your vision? Go GET a vision! Then act on it! Christ, is it that hard to be unashamedly passionate about your issues?

Kelley points out that kerry/edwards want to win more than they want to be good leaders. She has a point. I mean, obviously they are dominated by their political sittuation, but I think this really speaks to the lack of fire in the left right now. Kerry's not Bush. That's the one and only reason I'm voting for him come Fall. But that's really not enough- I'm tired of hoping to fight off stupid shit, tired of playing the defensive constantly. Where is the man or woman who will sweep the party and take up the offensive?
