Finished my thesis yesterday, and worked until 5 am going over it to make sure it sounded even basically coherent and to go over some of the places where I'd say CITE or QUOTE and fill those in. It's repetitive, bulky, clumsy, and over the word limit, there are sections that need stuff added and sections that need cut all together, but I sent it to the PhD student the department found to edit it after my advisor went on vacation right before the deadline without arranging for cover, because I didn't want to take the piss by making her wait after she'd generously agreed to do it. GOD what a passive aggro bitchfest my daring to want my thesis read through once by anyone affiliated with the university occasioned in my Pathway Coordinator. You'd think I'd asked her to fist a poodle rather than, really politely, (I had other, polite people read it over to make sure, and to edit out the element of 'um didn't we enter into a contractual obligation for this/isn't this what we're here to do?') to provide services I paid 10,000 pounds for.

I'm glad I didn't FINISH my intended reading schedule, because my GOD I already had WAY too much material. I feel bad about not having thanked people for help yet/responded to various communication, and will get to doing so, but I've just been so busy. Sick with flu this week, as well. Mostly better now. Job interview Tuesday, did a lot of other applications with cover letters, had a Shalka meeting with Katy, blah blah.

So once I have Katy's edit incorporated into the draft I'll post it to my f-list under lock. All told, writing-wise, I wrote it mostly in 2 days, spilling over onto a third. I know there's a TON of research involved and such, which I did over the preceding weeks, but I'm not sure why it takes 3 years to write a relatively short English PhD? Maybe there's a ton of paper, conference and departmental commitments to bulk up the time. Even if this is all utter crap and needs redone, it's still... in existence? So not really sure how 50,000 can possibly take three years when the 15,000 thesis took three months, and when most of my three months, for me, were taken up with work, the wedding, Meghan staying with me for a month, Katy moving in, getting the bills and everything switched over, remodeling bits of the house, cleaning, etc. I mean that is an UNSUAL confluence of domestic shit there, and I feel like I did not work enough.

I have two weeks to edit the crapness out of it. That seems okay. Now to write my SH review and do some PhD aps. Booooo. Also maybe to eat something, v. hungry.
