There are always going to be things in fandom-writing I find exceptionally difficult and annoying. For DW, it's character voices that drive me half mad. While some of them feel entirely naturalistic and easy to me, fuck if I can write Five or Ten, or Ainley!Master or Simm!Master (unpinable for the classic characters, too spastic to get quite correct for the NewWho duo). Which is a shame when you have an idea or several you quite like, but it all hinges on finally producing a Five who doesn't sound wretchedly uke. So here's yet another plunge of watching a bit of Davison-era, hoping to not have to cheat by cramming his dialogue with adverbs until it sounds plausible. And this time I won't just write Ainley!Master as Delgado with crazy-pants on.

I'd almost say the thing of it is audio. Why are Eight or Six ludicrously easy to write? Because they have many delightfully listenable audios, wherein they'll whiter on in your ears until you can be in no reasonable doubt as to how they should talk. Five!voice in audios tends to sound a bit /off/ to me, so the effect's not quite there. And yet the theory doesn't really hold, because sans audios, I think Three and Delgado!Master are relatively simple (one doesn't have to /think/ when writing them, it's just easy), and that's just the eps to go on.

If you want to confess who you find fucking impossible to write, or indeed your non-voice ficwriting woes, it would go some ways towards making me feel less frustrated. :p
