Anchoress is creepy and well-acted, shot like the Bergman movie Wild Strawberries. I'm a bad film-kid because black and white photography puts me off, makes it hard to pay attention. Had to watch the beginning twice to understand what the hell was going on. We learn the middle ages suck hard, caves and other vaginal symbols are way cooler places to live than A Wall We Could Brick You Into If You're Super Lucky, and A Frame construction is ugly no matter what your century. An interesting depiction of the hold earlier tradition had on rural England. The end was a bit too Teen Wiccan, but it was well intentioned, v. pagan in a realistic, well-researched sort of way. All in all a well done film, worth watching, with a few absolutley hillarious moments drawn from the gravity.
