One white russian at the mill later, I am almost ludicrously tipsy. I saw Kelly from New Pi who was wasted beyond all reason. We hugged esctatically and discussed loving each other's outfits. I played some chess. Danny rescued me. This jackass wrote on my car in shaving cream, so I lacquered his fucking olds in mayo and mustard messages. I was sober at the time. Adam's condiments, so not really too invested in paying him back for those. Angela Carter's fairy tales are really good. Honey Bunches of Joyce Carrol Oates agrees. Tomorrow, have book-buying date and will pick up Colin. Or Danny will, and I'm along for the ride. Danny and Annie were watching a loud kung fu movie and I had to read in Jer's room and I felt inexplicably guilty, like I was violating his space, which is odd b/c he fully permissed me to read in there. Ben's comming into town tomorrow, wo party there. Comic comming along at a nice clip.
The other day these guys were playing with a time clock at house of aromas, like a 30 something and a 12 year old, and the 12 year old got put into check in such a way that he could have taken his opponent's rook with his advancing pawn, but his opponent kept checking him so it wasn't even an option and went for the win rather than picking up that pawn with his queen. The 12 year old tried to snatch the king behing a pawn to get some protection and get out of the mating time-bomb, but the 30 year old had none of that shit and slid his queen over to take the protection pawn under cover of aforementioned roook. Even though playing with a timeclock seems really challenging, I really want to learn, that was the hottest thing ever, Molly and Therese kind of had to drag me out of there. It all seemed preternaturally fast!
I always thought Prior in that one scene with the face-columns that move and the arm candelabras was just being super campy, but I just saw the orriginal Mariline Detrich French Beauty and the Beast and the HBO Angels is directly visually quoting from that movie, it's really interesting to consider, esp. in relation to the fab and how important doubling is in B and the B and A in A.
Beth and I have been hanging out a lot lately. I'm such a bitch, I didn't call Olivia, and I promised to! I'll invite her to a party, or something. Why does Iowa Book take every opportunity to suck? They still haven't recieved that one damn cheap copy of burried child, they said 3-4 days and it's been two damn weeks. I think the paper I turned in today was kind of weak. I need to remember to give Therese and Ben The Haunting of Hill House to read, as they asked to borrow it and that paper's over now.
