right, like I definitely have a different way I talk about my own experiences drawing fanart to protect my own sanity but then also real criticism of various trends or things I'd like to see more of, that I won't talk so openly about bc I know it can easily be misconstrued.. people love to turn things into personal attacks!
I've been making my way through your SVSSS Miscellany and found it so refreshing the way you talk about other works that have approached a topic in different ways and so I've started making references to other fanartists or bits of meta or fic in notes and tags more enthusiastically and it's SO fun, feels like I'm situating myself in a way. We are all contemporaries of a sort after all.
I'm not familiar with Old-Guard, Brit fandom etc but it's weirdly relieving knowing there are other fandom traditions that might do more of this kind of thing!
