In no order
Dec. 12th, 2011 01:58 am* Today Katy and I went through the small parts auditions for Shalka and picked who we wanted for what, who we needed to do secondary call-backs for, where we could find more people, etc.
* I did laundry and cleaned the bedroom and the kitchen surfaces.
* Made Mexican chicken for Katy and I and Mexican Stuffed Peppers for Jo. I'd never done the latter, but they seemed to work out okay, even if they were a bit insufficient in their coating.
* I wrote a letter to a tutoring company person asking for a job.
* I checked over some script edits and sent them out to the writer with a few letters.
* I recorded my first-ever podfic with Katy, which makes me realize I sort of miss acting, though I haven't done it forever and thus am not very good at it anymore (I was never VERY good at it, let's be honest). It's not quite done, but it was a short fic (if a bit of a challenge b/c the mic kept doing odd things and it was a two-hander rather than one person reading), so it's almost done.
* Watched the hillaribad 'A Princess for Christmas' with Nadja and Katy, talked to Nadja after about Yuletide.
* Tidied Stuff In The Fridge a bit.
* Roasted the bones left over from Mexican chicken, because roasted bones produce a rich, glossy, flavorful stock. Apparently.
* Faffed about with my google calendar under the guise of updating it.
* My mom's on bedrest and not allowed to work from bed Florence Nightingale style whilst on pain drugs, and thus she has to watch a lot of television. She doesn't want any more sitcoms or dramas like House because she's finding the sequential format really trying/dull atm, given that she has to lay there absolute ages watching shit. I made her an exhaustive links-heavy list of period dramas and documentaries: Downton, Hornblower, Our Mutual Friend, David Copperfield, all of Old Who (for kicks, she's seen a fair amount of New, but I don't think she'll go for anything without the Ferret Lord, tbh), Planet Word, Stephen Fry's America, Penn and Teller's Bullshit, Party Animals, Einstein and Eddington, etc. They're uniformly not of the standard American Series length. She can feel like each finished short miniseries is sort of an accomplishment/learning experience. (Which she claimed 'The Tudors' was on fb--*ew*.) I doubt she wants P&T BS, but she might want to argue politics against something that doesn't wince at the pure Wrong of her opinions (because it's pre-recorded and can't weep for humanity/run).
* Talked to mom, bio!daddy, and Meghan a little, encouraging Meghan to audition for Shalka's many going American parts.
* Started listening to/making notes on Nadja's Shalka ep's readthrough.
