At $65 a five course meal, Moto (yeah, that Moto, with the herb sprigs in the spoon to enhance the flavor and the paper wrapped maki roles with pictures of the maki roles themselves printed on them) is too expensive for my parents to be conned into fronting. Maybe I could give myself dinner there as a birthday present in due time. For just the friends and I, Ann Sathers, however, and Sugar, my favorite bar/deserterie, are on. Aren't they? Don't you guys get hungry just thinking about them? Food is one of the major attractions of a big city for me. It's so frustrating, so vile, to find no good place open to eat at 11, to have not decent vendor for deserts in the whole damn town. I'm having a little trouble thinking of a trully fun place that mom could take us to (read: more than we could usually justify spending).

The Girodet exhibit at the Art Institute starts Saturday. That could be v. cool. Autumn Moon, Autumn Flowers seems strangely appealing. I don't know why, because it seems kind of run of the mill, but I'm really drawn to that exhibition. I'm trying not to overplan my jaunt, because I always do, and I always wind up monstorously disappointed by my failure to follow through.

My Buffy arrived a few days ago. "These guys don't know they've been getting meds in their food!" Best expositional dialogue ever. Thanks, "Goodbye, Iowa."
