I hate pet peeves and when people have them to excess. Honestly, get the fuck over yourself, lighten up. It's not people's responsibility to conduct themselves in ways that please your undisclosed expectations, or even to comply with your well-publicized nitpicking. Indulging in hatred of people's quirks is closed minded and keeps you from appreciating a person's qualities. Similarly pet peeves keep you from enjoying otherwise pleasant sittuations. Someone picking their teeth at a table across the way? That drives you crazy? Get the fuck over it, because you're only irritating yourself. And to what end?

That said, I wallow in one of mine. Bitch About Person X (who is, of course, not specifically named) lj posts need to die so good. Everyone reading assumes it's about them. Said readers come a running, "Oh, it's not me is it? I love you so much sweetie, I'm so sorry I did blank on Y, kisses!" The Bitch About Person X post craves this kind of attention.

If you just needed to vent, that's what the private post is for. And you can do that in detail! You can name those names! You can express that rage or lingering irritation and no one need ever deal with it!Or go have a conversation about it with a non-involved friend, share your feelings, and then forget about it! W00t!

State your case to the person in person, not mediated by lj, and get smacked down for its ridiculousness, get over it because you've aired it, make your points and try to constructively change the situation, or keep it to yourself.

It's not like I'm blameless. I can think off the top of my head of at least one occasion this school year I've done something equally stoopid and deplorably drama-tastic. But I'm making an effort not to anymore, because really, bitch please.
