Hmm. I don't know whether to thank you for forwarding. You don't seem to be being malicious, so, err, thanks, I guess... In all honesty, Scone and I bet this is the same girl we yelled at for leaving a stupid review. She can suck it up- write a stupid review? Get a stupid response. Even the excerpt seems, well... a lot like the same bad writer.

As to being an active member of a forum like this, I live in the South- I fill up my daily irritating asshole contact quota just by walking out the door.

Man, I think you sound like a nice guy, but there's not really a need to make half a dozen references to how big you think my ego is. It's kind of mean spirited- and what do you hope to achieve by pointing out that you find me egotistical?

I'm sorry if I've rubbed you (or is it you guys?) the wrong way somehow, but I really don't see how this tiny discussion in a rather small fandom chock full of arrogant people (man, if you think I'm a piece of work, you should see the C:KND message board...) got to be the business of a forum of other people I don't even know, who are apparently kvetching about me behind my back. I really haven't been active enough in that sphere to warrant such attention; unless she's decided she wants to carry out a personal grudge where I can't see her do it. Should I be as bemused and hurt as I feel?

Moral of the story:

or what to do if you receive a dumb review

a) If it SOUNDS really superior and condescending, and as if the person takes herself so seriously there's, like, a redwood shoved up her ass,
b) And you defend the fic your best friend spent five bored minutes writing from one of the stupidest, most self-inflated reviews you've even seen, more full of bad suggestions than Condoleezza (sp?) Rice or your abysmal 12 grade lit teacher, your reviewer will turn out to be a thirteen year old on a high horse,
c) Who will run to her friends, who are on a self-proclaimed mission to rid the world of bad fic, as defined by subjective, personal criteria, for sympathy
d) Who will decide that what the world needs now is your grammar being picked apart and declared deliberately confusing by people who cannot understand your somewhat complex (but entirely normal to you) sentence structure, yet presume to judge other's writing not just in a passive, helpful way but as their blatantly elitist Mission and so thus should possess skill as well as enthusiasm
e) Who will decide you, in fact, are the elitist here
f) Who will oh-so-lovingly sit around crafting amusing message board smilies for you as they spew on for an entire thread about how vile and insecure you are as a person (you will not be told of their smoldering hate, someone non-involved will have to go fetch you and let you know about the people burning you in effigy in the back), while they
g) Presume to know you as a person because you replied to three stupid reviews with commensurate stupidity, so you should probably
h) Fucking give up- thirteen years olds who don't disclaim their age but use it as a crutch in the aftermath and are prouder than peacocks while reviewing, completely failing to tell you about their organization and mission in addition to treating you like shit out of nowhere are ALWAYS right. No questions asked, no toning down of the INCREDIBLE, UNBELIEVABLE snootiness needed. Meanwhile, you will have
i) Spent a weekend wondering, before you knew the whole story, why someone hates you, who keeps to herself in the fandom and should not be on the radar of people not on her own radar, only to find out that this week, you're scheduled for a
j) Sick rehash of elementary school, in which you will not be allowed to use 'big words' for fear of being deliberately mean to the dumb kids/lest you get beat up, just when you thought you were
k) Moving on to college, and SO over this fucking shit.

Do I ever want to get the hell out of dodge! My glorious NY vacation is JUST what I need to forget about the world constantly trying to disprove my theory that all people are basically intelligent and good. Who could have thought that a group could be motivated to that level of communal HATE for someone not even a public figure? It's troubled me all weekend. I guess I'm not cut out to do anything political, I'm too worried my asinine opponents might have a good point and not focused enough on crushing the enemy under heel. It will be sooo good to see those of you guys who I haven't seen in Many Moons!

I still don't see why Crybaby!Brat! Critic, she who presumes to be the 13 yr old goddess of constructive criticism, is in any way in the moral right here. If you're going to be the local rep of a bitchy, silly institution and planning on wearing self-righteousness like a birthday suit, then don't back down, back it up. When I was a 13 yr old newb, I stuck to what I knew and didn't go crying to the big girls when I blatantly fucked up. The 13 yr old in question is advanced for her age, no doubt about it, but I don't know when I've seen a worse personality in my life. Anal retentive, self-obsessed, shrewish- can we say bright future in charted accountancy?
